About Online Learning

By registering for an online course, you can learn The Pettibon System, anywhere and at any time. All you need is high-speed connection to the Internet. Your computer should have a sound card and high-resolution graphics capability. Make sure your Internet browser is the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer (which is IE7) or Mozilla Firefox (which is Firefox 2.0).

The online courses have reference material which has been formatted into documents that you can print. To be able to open those documents, you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader Software. You can download a free version.

For getting the most out of an online learning course, be sure that you're comfortable using your personal computer and the Internet, not easily distracted, and open to planning study times and sticking to them!

What's the difference in content between the online courses and the instructor-led courses?

The content is the same, the way it's chunked and presented are different.

An important goal of our instructor-led courses is to enable doctors to immediately apply their learning back in their clinics on Monday. The instructor-led, week-end courses overview the foundational science and focus on application. Participants get reference material which they are directed to study on their own.

The online courses have the luxury of time. Smaller chunks of content are presented in-depth in a steady progression going from 'the what' and 'why' to 'how.'

Here's the bottom line: Regardless of whether you take the three core courses with an instructor or online, you'll end up learning exactly the same content. Hands-on application is important and obviously missing from the online courses. So for that reason, we also offer two practicums: Diagnostics & Application and Advanced Practicum & Case Management.

What kind of documentation is given for completing an online course?

When you complete an online course's posttest and evaluation form, we send you a Certificate of Completion.

What's the process for getting CE hours?

We send the coordinator for PACE (Providers of Approved Continuing Education) at the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards a monthly report on the doctors who have completed online courses. The doctors' chiropractic regulatory boards are then informed by PACE. Not all boards accept online courses for CE hours and not all boards accept courses from Recognized PACE Providers. Palmer College also provides online CE for some states. We have listed all the CE Re-licensure Requirements for the US and Canada so you can verify what your board accepts.

How is multi-media incorporated?

Because Fundamentals covers 'the what' and 'why' there are only a few audio and video clips. In X-ray Procedures, there are extensive audio clips of an instructor/Pettibon practitioner explaining how to set-up x-ray equipment, position patients, take, mark, and measure x-rays. In Clinic Protocols & Home Care, more than three hours of video clips demonstrate 'the how' of testing, exams, using instruments and rehabilitation equipment, mobilizations, etc.
